Ayas – A Charming Town by the Foot of the Alps
Ayas is a small town in Italy’s Aosta Vallley. It is made of several parishes, the two major ones being Champoluc and Antagnod. The views from Ayas is amazing as it is situated on the upper part of the homonymous valley at the feet of the Pennine Alps. Throughout history, the town of Ayas has gone through so many events that molded the way the town is today. During the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the town experienced high emigration, the common destinations being France and Switzerland. After the two world wars, the town experienced an economic revival due mostly to tourism in the area. This led to the construction of hotels and many other economic changes. There are plenty to enjoy and discover in Ayas, Italy. To get to this beautiful town, the closest airport is the Aosta Valley Airport (AOT), which is roughly an hour away from the town center.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to go exploring the town of Ayas in Italy is from months of mid-August to mid-April. The weather is perfect during this time so going on excursions or simply enjoy the town is very much enjoyable for everybody. The month of June is the busiest for tourism in the town. The month of October is the leanest month for tourism in Ayas so travelers can easily book rooms that are less expensive.

Hike the stunning Val d’Ayas. The views from the valley are breathtaking. This valley is deemed the best valley in the Aosta Valley. Tourists can also enjoy skiing in the valley aside from walking. A beautiful place to go skiing in the winter or simply enjoy by the lake during springtime is the Col de Joux. The city itself has some beautiful attractions. Ayas is strongly influenced by the church so there are many religious buildings around. One of the more interesting ones to visit is the Church of Saint Martin of Tours. There are also beautiful places to stay in while in Ayas, one of them is the Petit Tournalin. It is surrounded by greens during the spring and beautiful snow views during the winter.
