It was formerly known as Provo Bench and Sharon, the birthplace of the founder of the Church of the Latter Day Saints, Joseph Smith. As of the 2010 census the population of Orem, UT was 88,328. The city is named after Walter Orem, the president of the Salt Lake and Utah Railroad during the 1900s. The city can be accessed through Provo Municipal Airport which is 10 miles from the center of Orem, Utah. The city is also serviced by Utah Transit Authority’s Frontrunner Train.
