Long Island MacArthur Airport is owned and operated by the Town of Islip; thus, it was formerly known as the Islip Airport. The airport serves both commercial flights and general aviation services and is located in Long Island particularly in Ronkonkoma, New York. It is in between Montauk Point and Manhattan and serves as an alternative airport to JFK and LaGuardia airports. In 2011, FAA designated Long Island MacArthur Airport as an Official Metro Airport grouped with JFK, LaGuardia and Newark. It made it more searchable to the traveling public.
