International Quilt Study Center, Lincoln, Nebraska, United States of America
The International Quilt Study Center is the largest known collection of quilts in the world, found at the center of Lincoln. This is founded in 1997 when Nebraskan residents donated almost 950 quilts to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In 2008, through the private funds collected by the UN Foundation, James found a new location to perfectly display all the quilt collection. The firm that handled its design was Robert AM Stern Architects. As of today's date, the quilt collections now reached 6,000 from different countries, representing their culture and tradition. The museum also includes some publications, like Wild by Design and American Quilts in the Modern Age. The University of Nebraska, with the needs of maintaining and expanding the quilting culture, has been offering a Master's Degree in Textile History.
