Among the five civilian airports in Sicily, Italy this airport is also used as a military facility. It is strategically situated between Trapani and Marsala and serves Trapani, Italy and its nearby towns. The Vincenzo Florio Airport Trapani–Birgi, whose airport code is TPS, was named before Vincenzo Florio Sr., an Italian entrepreneur and politician. In 2015, the airport has handled1,586,992 passengers making it one of Italy’s large air public transport facility.
