Seward Airport – SWD Seward

Seward Airport with code SWD is located in Seward, Alaska. The public airport is about 3.7 km from the city center of Seward. It is a city found in the Kenai Peninsula Borough in the state of Alaska According to FAA’s classification, the facility falls under general aviation. The airport was created during the Second World War. It was previously known as the Walseth Air Force Base. After the war, the airport was closed down by US Air Force. It was considered as an excess to the war assets of the government. During this time, the local government of Alaska has taken over the operations of the airport.
