Operated by the Empresa Brasileira de Infraestrutura Aeroportuária, the Parnaíba-Prefeito Dr. João Silva Filho International Airport is an international airfield named in honor of the former mayor of the city of Parnaíba, Brazil. The locals typically refer to the airport as Santos Dumont Airport, mainly because of its architectural similarities to its namesake airfield in Rio de Janeiro. It goes by the IATA code of PHB.

PHB was officially opened in October 1971. The passenger terminal of the airfield was inspired by the terminal of Santos Dumont Airport. Today, PHB is served by Azul Brazilian Airlines, which connects Parnaíba to Recife. If you’re in the area, do explore the cities of Coqueiro and Picos, as well.
