Named after the Newark Castle in Port Glasgow Scotland, Newark, CA was originally the home of the Ohlone Native American Tribe before Europeans started to settle in the region. Founded by J. Barr Robertson, Newark completes Union City and Fremont in completing the triad cities of the Tri-City Area. It is currently the third largest city in the United States that was named after the Newark Castle in Scotland. Buchanan Field Airport and the Oakland International Airport are the closest airports you can fly into to reach the region.
