Mascota, Jalisco: The City of Deer
Mascota, Jalisco is a small village situated in central-western Mexico, in the plateau of the Western Sierra Madre mountain chain. It is the largest town in the local municipality of Jalisco. Its name means "the place of deers and snakes". During the Spaniard colonization, it was called the Valley of Deer and the original residents were the Teco Indians.
