Coban, Guatemala or Santo Domingo de Coban is a city founded in 1543. It received an imperial city status from Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor. During this period, it was briefly called “Ciudad Imperial”. Towards the latter part of the 19th century, it was developed by German coffee growers.
