The airport was first constructed in 1942 by the then mayor, Mr. Alfredo Cortés Rito. Currently the airport stands on an elevation of 75 feet AMSL. There is only one runway on the airport, and it measures 5,630 feet and has an asphalt surface. The first ever airplane that landed in the airport was an aircraft carrying a US military attaché.
