Located approximately 20 north of downtown Dallas, Plano, TX is a city in the state of Texas, located mostly within Collin County. Known to be the home to several corporate headquarters like Dell Services, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Frito-Lay, HP Enterprise Services, Huawei, J. C. Penney, and Pizza Hut, Plano is the ninth biggest city in the state of Texas. Due to the numerous corporations headquartered in the city, the nearest Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is said to be the 4th-busiest airport in the world. Tourism in Plano, Texas peaks during the months of August through September bringing the prices of hotels and airfares up. Should travel during this time be necessary, it is advisable to purchase and book lodgings at least 3 months in advance to get the best deals. The most ideal time for travel is from mid-March to late May when temperatures average in the mid-60s. Tourists are unlikely to visit Plano in early March.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Although Plano earned its name for the flat plains of the area, the city is also known to be a habitat of large trees in many of its parks. Tourists can explore two of Plano's main open space preserves: Arbor Hills Nature Preserve and Oak Point Park, and Nature Preserve. These preserves are connected by biking trails, making the green space one huge continuous park space that is bigger than Central Park in New York City. Visitors can also include a visit to Dallas Museum of Art, take the family to the Go Ape Zip Line & Treetop, or spend a relaxing weekend at La Quinta Inn & Suites Plano West, Magnuson Hotel Park Suites, or at the Hampton Inn & Suites Dallas/Plano East.
