About Montage Hotels & Resorts Pauwalu
Montage Hotels & Resorts is a luxury hotel and resort management company founded by Alan Fuerstman in 2002. The firm is based in Orange County, California. It has 5 properties in the United States and one ongoing development in Mexico and Healdsburg, and another two under the Pendry Hotel brand. In June 2002, the company made its first acquisition when it partnered with the Athens Group to buy the Laguna Beach Colony development. The deal was worth $190 million, which was the highest per-room cost for a hotel in the United States that year. In 2003, the Montage Laguna Beach opened and was the first hotel to carry the Montage brand.
In March 2005, Montage won a municipal election, which enabled to build another luxury hotel in the heart of Beverly Hills. Montage Beverly Hills was opened in 2008. Two years later, Montage opened its 3rd resort, Montage Deer Valley in Park City, Utah. In 2013, Montage Hotels & Resorts added more properties in their portfolio, starting with their opening in Hawaii. They took over the management of the Kapalua Bay property, which they eventually renamed Montage Kapalua Bay. The expansion continued the next years, and in 2015 they announced their plans for their first international resort hotel in Mexico on the Santa Maria Bay.
