Quad City International Airport (MLI) is situated 5 km. from Moline, Illinois. This public airport is nestled in Rock Island County with some parts in Coal Valley Township and Blackhawk Township. It is the third busiest airport in Illinois next to O’Hare and Midway International Airport. MLI-Moline was recognized as Illinois’ Primary Airport of the Year in 2012.
Previously, the airport complex was called Franing Field which became a popular venue thanks to the first coast-to-coast flight in 1919. Faring Field was often used for promotional flight tours in commercial aviation. A Velie Monocoupe is still hanging in the passenger terminal.
