Midway International Airport is an international airport located in Chicago, Illinois. It is also referred to as Chicago Midway, Midway Airport, or simply Midway. Owned by the City of Chicago, Midway International Airport is operated by the Chicago Department of Aviation. Its airport code is MDW. MDW was built in 1927 and was originally named the Chicago Municipal Airport. It was later renamed in honor of the Battle of Midway. Over the years, renovations have helped keep the airport modern. The current terminal was built in 2001. Further modernization plans are underway and are set to be completed by 2020.
