The proposal by the States of Jersey to build an airport was passed in 1937. In the 1950s, the airport featured a traffic control system to more direct-grounded craft. Jersey Airport was renovated several times over the years. By 2014, the original terminal building in 1937 had been completely demolished on the grounds of being a safety hazard due to high quantities of asbestos. Operations transferred to the connecting terminal that was set up near the old one in 2010. Back in 1938, the Jersey Airport was the subject of infamy when a de Havilland D.H.86 aircraft crashed into the parish of Saint Brelade, killing all on board the plane.
