Ibiza Airport - IBZ Ibiza
The Ibiza Airport started as a temporary military airport during the Spanish Civil War. It remained open and served as an emergency airport post-war. In 1949, it started serving domestic and international commercial flights in Ibiza, Spain until it closed in 1951. Seven (7) years later, efforts were initiated to reopen the airport due to the rapidly growing local tourism market. In 1966, it opened its doors to international traffic and customs, operating 24 hours a day. What is unique about it is that it offers guided educational tours to students during off-peak season, from November to April.

Today, the IBZ-Ibiza Airport is publicly owned by ENAIRE and operated by Aena. Since it resumed its operations in 1958, IBZ Airport was continuously improved to accommodate the changing industry trends and growing demands of passengers. It has one (1) runway measuring 9,186-foot long. In 2011, it was able to provisionally service over 5.6 million passengers. In 2018, it had an annual record of 8.1 million passengers. Currently, 46 commercial airlines are operating in the airport. Domestic flights are available year-round. There are also seasonal routes to other European destinations, given that the island is a sought-after tourist destination in the region. Popular nearby destinations include Cala Saona, Formentera, Espalmador Island, Es Calo, and Pilar de la Mona.
