Named for Miguel Hidalgo, the official name of Guadalajara International Airport is Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla Guadalajara International Airport. Opened in 1966, the airport is Mexico's third-busiest airport and second-busiest for cargo flights. Guadalajara Airport is strategically located 16 kilometers from the city of Guadalajara, which is known as the birthplace of the mariachi. The airport served 14,351,800 passengers that visit Guadalajara, Mexico as of 2018.
