Appleton International Airport – ATW Appleton
Appleton International Airport (ATW) was formerly known as Outagamie County Regional Airport and is situated in Appleton, Wisconsin. Even though ATW is an international airport, there are no international flights coming in and out of Appleton. In 2018, ATW was recognized as one of the fastest growing airports in the country.
This public airport opened in 1965. In 1983, Outagamie County, who also owns the airport, rejected several names to change the airport’s official name. In 2014, they finally approved and voted to rename Outagamie County Regional Airport to Appleton International Airport. Appleton Regional Airport serves the city of Appleton along with its surrounding towns including Ashwaubenon, Brillion, De Pere, Green Bay, Howard, and Suamico.

ATW had several renovations and in 2000, the passenger terminal received a facelift while a new ground concourse was also added. In 2011, ATW was selected to join a sustainability project by the FAA to create a 70% energy efficient airport by 2023. In 2013, ATW’s flight center terminal became the country’s first airport terminal to be recognized as a zero-energy destination and received a Class D Net Zero Energy rating. Appleton Airport is recognized as a leader of airport energy sustainability.
