Allegheny County Airport - AGC Pennsylvania
Owned by Allegheny County Airport Authority, Allegheny County Airport (AGC) is the fifth busiest airport in Pennsylvania, US. As such, it is the primary reliever airport designated by the Federal Aviation Administration for Pittsburgh International Airport, the second busiest airport in the state. Best Time to Visit
Allegheny County Airport was the third biggest airport in the US when it was established in 1931. The main terminal was founded on a site that used to be a steel industry slag dump. It used to be the main entry point going to Pittsburgh until the foundation of Pittsburgh International Airport in 1952. It is, nonetheless, a popular choice among business travelers because of its strategic location— it is nearer to the downtown area, and densely populated areas such as Monongahela Valley, Monroeville, and South Hills than Pittsburgh International Airport. The airport has two (2) runways— one measuring 6,501-foot long and another one measuring 3,825-foot long. Some of the popular destinations near the airport are Ambridge, Bellevue, and Murrysville.
