History was written when the Stockholm Student Union came up with the billion-dollar idea of making money off classrooms by offering them as hotel rooms during summer vacations. It took off as a Foundation, but about 20 years later, it became a private entity as SSRS Holding AB. Since then, the company has kept acquiring and building properties in Sweden.
In 1991, it officially rebranded as Elite Hotels of Sweden. Despite having a rocky start during the first few decades, the hotel chain remained committed to its vision, making it the successful company that it is today.
