Rostov-on-Don Airport was an international airport that serves the Rostov-on-Don, Russia. Other cities that were served by this airport include Pushkin Street, Zelenyy Island and more. It was one of the largest and busiest airports in the country, handling upwards of 2.7 Million passengers. The public airport was operated by the JSC “Airport Rostov-on-Don”. It sits at 29 meters above mean sea level. It served more than 50 destinations in Russia and internationally and it also served as the hub for airline Donavia. On December 2017, all flights for Rostov-on-Don Airport were transferred to the Platov International Airport. It officially closed in March 2018.

The airport was founded in 1925 and gained its international airport status in 1986. It started as an airfield and over 120 acres of land were allocated. Heavily damaged during the war, Rostov-on-Don Airport was later renovated and a new runway and terminal was added in 1949. The main terminal, which was in use till it closed, was constructed in 1977. Further reconstruction and modernization were done between 2006 and 2007. Rostov-on-Don Airport was closed in favor of the new Platov International Airport, which was constructed specifically to serve the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
