Raleigh-Durham International Airport is an international airport located in and serving Raleigh, Durham, NC. It also serves the surrounding Research Triangle Region of North Carolina, in the United States. It is 4.2 kilometers outside of Morrisville in the Cedar Folk Township in Wake County. The airport which operates under the airport code RDU sits on 5,000 acres of land. It is owned and operated by the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. RDU serves as a focus city for Delta Air Lines and Frontier Air Lines. In 2018, it served 14.5 million passengers and more than 205,000 aircraft movements. There are 3 runways. Runway 1 has a concrete surface and runways 2 and 3 have asphalt surfaces.

The airport opened in 1943. It replaced Raleigh Municipal Airport which outgrew passenger demand. The first flights from the airport were done by Eastern Airlines. RDU once served as the hub for American Airlines. As of 2018, Delta Airlines is one of the biggest carriers serving Raleigh-Durham, International Airport (RDU). There are two terminals and three concourses. There are no airside connections for the terminals and passengers either take a moving walkway or a shuttle bus when moving between terminals. It is also an important cargo hub and has two cargo areas. The RDU airport serves the nearby city of Rolesville.
