Paphos International Airport – PFO
Categorized as a joint civil-military public airport, Paphos International Airport is located just four miles from Paphos, Cyprus. The airport, which goes by the code PFO, is referred to as the second-biggest airport in the country next to Larnaca International Airport. PFO serves the districts of Paphos and Limassol and houses the military airbase, Andreas Papandreou. It is owned by the government of Cyprus and operated by Hermes Airports Ltd.
Best Time to Visit
PFO is typically the airport of choice for tourists coming to western Cyprus as it offers convenient access to some of the best towns in the area, including Limassol, Ayia Marina Chrysochous, and Kato Polemidia. That said, the airport handles almost three million passengers in 2018 alone. To accommodate the increasing traffic, the airport underwent several renovations and opened a new terminal in 2008. Meanwhile, a four-lane road connecting Paphos International Airport to Paphos is still under the works. The current facilities of the airport include 28 check-in desks, seven gates, and over 20 aircraft stands. More than 20 airlines also land in the airfield, which offers routes to various destinations in Europe.
