Malta International Airport is located in Luqa, Malta and is the only airport that serves the whole of the Maltese Islands. Situated at the southwest regions of Valletta, it serves as hosts to several maintenance facilities for the airlines operating in the airport. There is only one terminal in Malta International Airport. This terminal became operational in 1992 and served as a replacement of the old Luqa Terminal that is now being used for cargo flights. Arrival lounges and lounges dedicated to VIPs called the La Valette Club are also added to the original section of the terminal building initially used for departures.
