The sprawling amusement park area has an assortment of hotels and lodges offering a wide range of options. The first hotels, the Polynesian Village and the Contemporary Resort Hotel, were built in time for the theme park’s opening in 1971. Since then, several more hotels and lodgings have been developed to cater to different groups of people with varied tastes. Currently, there are a total of 28 hotels and lodges.
The Walt Disney World Resort hotels are classified into four categories. The smallest rooms have the smallest price tags and are aptly categorized as the Value Resorts. The Moderate Resorts have the more standard-sized rooms, as well as more dining options and entertainment facilities. The Deluxe Resorts offer the most luxurious amenities but come with the most expensive price tag. The fourth category is the Disney Vacation Club Resorts, which consist of varied villas and lodges that are operated by a separate Disney subsidiary.
