About Radisson Blu Edwardian Hemel Hempstead
Radisson Blu Edwardian is the evolution on the Skyway Hotel that opened in 1960. The brand was purchased in 1989 by the Edwardian Hotels and was renovated and took a new name - Edwardian International. In 1990, the hotel took a new name, the Radisson Blu Edwardian, Heathrow Hotel, Edwardian Hotels Group’s flagship hotel.
After a few years, Edwardian hotels collaborated with Radisson Hotels and started rebranding hotels under the Radisson brand as Radisson Blu. These included the flagship hotel Radisson Blu Edwardian Heathrow Hotel and the Radisson Blu Edwardian Hampshire Hotel, all in 1993.
Edwardian Hotels, the name behind Radisson Blu Edwardian was founded in 1975 by Jasminder Singh. The company had 13 hotels under its wing and is mostly centralized in different locations in London. One of their most popular hotels, The May Fair, purchase from InterContinental Hotels Group in 2003 is considered as one of the most notable properties the group purchased.
This privately held company now includes 287 hotels, a collection of luxury accommodations located in Heathrow, Manchester and central London. Currently a nominee and competing for the Best Urban Hotel category in the Conde Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence, the brand is currently developing 102 more hotels to be added to its roster of properties.
