Beautiful but a little disappointing

Pros: The room was huge and lovely if a little tired in places. The pool was nice and the hotel staff were all very nice

Cons: I didnt like being stuck in the complex with not enough shuttle boats put on by the hotel so we had to change our plans constantly to fit which made it feel very limiting. The rooms werent as clean as I was expecting of a 5 star hotel. We also had a problem with the water draining from the shower and the fridge

Pros: If you like secluded place this is the place for you. The monkey trail is like the krypton factor so most dont bother leaving the hotel. You can get the hotel boat back to the pier and then a tuk tuk back into town. Food is pretty good mostly. Location is why its more expensive than most.

Cons: This is a tough one. Credit where its due, most staff are friendly, the restaurants are very good but breakfast is a bit fast pace unless you order to the room and then you get a meal to feed the 5000! Reception staff werent exactly polite but the cleaners and some of the waiters/waitresses were. Very pricey drinks! We spent an extra 1k on food and drinks for 7 days on top. No lifeguards. I had to stop a young girl from drowning and no staff nearby to help (shes ok and brothers showed up eventually!). I did also have a pool accident and had to go to hospital for stitches. The staff and nurse were around for that one! Easy transportation to and from hospital (which was excellent facilities and easy to sort with travel insurance)

Pros: Gorgeous views from our room. Secluded which is both a pro & con.

Cons: The food is terrible. It wouldnt be a big deal if the property wasnt secluded but you either need to trek thru the monkey path or hire a boat to leave. If the food were good, it would be an amazing relaxing place!

Overall, really bad value for your money and would say its a tourist trap. Avoid!

Pros: The pool, views and garden were nice. And thats it about the good stuff.

Cons: Hotel last refurbished in 2013, which you can clearly see once you arrive, but not on the photos. Boat transfers are once in hour in morning and then even less, they finish early in the evening, so you cannot stay in the city too long and use boat. There are also no boats during low tide in the late afternoon. On one of the days the speedboat got broken and we had to use a longtail boat instead. This one also broke mid journey and we had to pray to not miss our reservation for kayaking. The boat stops at the port, which is far from touristic places and you will still have to get a taxi to Ao Nang. The only alternative way to get to the city is the Monkey Trail. It takes around 10 minutes and its okay but by far not a 5 star experience. It is a lot of steps climbing up and down, so not super especially in the temperatures outside. Hotel staff doesnt speak much English. Our check in took over an hour due to low tide and inefficiencies in getting the luggage into hotel, and no one cared to apologise. We were made to walk through the water as it was low tide with still bags and had to carry our shoes as well. You do not get anything complimentary except bottles of water and beach towels. Everything else is to pay for, mini fridge, kayaks on the beach, SPA access. And prices bite! Restaurants and bar are quite overpriced compared to Ao Nang. Given you are quite isolated, you will have no choice but to pay these prices. It also gets super quiet after 10 pm, quite boring if you have a going out personality.

It is a beautiful hotel and it is really private

Pros: Initially we were shown to the wrong room. It was fixed later and they apologized and said they would send over a bottle of sparkling wine to make up for the mistake. They said it would arrive by 6, but it did come around 10, which was fine.

Cons: We went to the Thai restaurant. The service was not great. It was rather slow and we werent even shown a desert menu or asked if we wanted coffee.

The best place Ive ever stayed

Pros: The site was out of this world the staff where the best they made up the room for my partners 30th Birthday and made it so special, I cant thank them enough they made it so special.

Cons: Not the right hotel if you want to explore Railay - you need to pay for a boat whenever you want to go - 3 min for over 1000 TB per person for service the hotel should offer for free on specific time frames . The food options are not so good - Japanese restaurant was very bad, breakfast very basic

Centara Grand was wildly overpriced for what they provide and we would not return.

Pros: Our favorite part about this resort was the views. Great views of the sunset and the ocean from our room balcony and from the pool area! Spa services were incredible too.

Cons: The customer service was lacking - staff were friendly but had difficulty understanding our requests due to a language barrier. The facilities needed updating and our bed linens were dirty upon arrival. The jets in the tub didn't work. The remoteness of the location was great but the shuttle service is severely lacking - no boats to Railay beach on the weekends was weird and having to hike the hot monkey trail to get into town was a real pain. We didn't enjoy that there was no alcohol served one of our days due to a Buddhist holiday that we were not warned about ahead of time. Overall, the resort was way overpriced for what they provided. We were dissapointed in this resort and would not decide to stay here again.

Magical

Pros: I proposed with a romantic dinner on the beach. I really have to thank Sathish the manager, lot for his help in making this moment magical. Him and this hotel were the best I could have had for my special day. Sathish and his staff, they treated me like a family member and a friend and did everything to make this special day even more special so that my sweetheart shed a tear while I put the ring on her finger . IF YOU WANT TO PROPOSE, I RECOMMEND! I stayed one night only and i planned everything the day before with the help of the manager Sathish and the moment was magical. Imagine if I had book 3 nights and had more time to plan

Lovely, scenic, but overpriced food

Pros: Lovely location, very scenic and beautiful. Initially we had an issue with our room, this was rectified and we were even upgraded to a lovely sea view room. We never had an issue finding a sun bed by the pool, and the staff were always helpful.

Cons: The hotel is very isolated and the food on offer is good, but expensive for what it is. The 'international resturant' only offers Indian curries, the Thai restaurant is overpriced and the beach club cafe has a limited menu which gets repetitive after 3/4 days. The tours on offer from the hotel are poor so would recommend going into town if you are set on visiting the Phi Phi islands or similar. The boat shuttle is good but runs to the opposite end of town. You can access Ao Nang via the monkey trail, which you certainly work up a sweat doing in the heat.

Pros: The best massage experience ever! The spa is amazing. Awesome beach, private. The location is fantastic, set in front of a mountain and surrounded by a nature reserve. The best setting. We saw spectacled langurs and Brahmini kites. Huge and very rich breakfast buffet. Excellent Thai restaurant. The exterior decoration of the hotel was beautiful.

Cons: The room needed a bit of a renovation. The sink was leaking.

Great hotel in an amazing location

Pros: Location was amazing. The staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough to meet any requests.

Cons: The hotel is a little tired, especially the bathroom in our room. It didn't negatively affect the overall experience but i do think it needs to be addressed if the hotel is going to maintain the quality.
