Brittania Hotels started its operations in 1976 upon the purchase of the Brittania Country House Hotel in Didsbury, Manchester. The founder and largest shareholder of the group is still Alex Langsam. Their second purchase in 1981 which was of the former Watts Warehouse provided a standard for their type of establishments in the following years to come.
