Toussaint Louverture International Airport – PAP Port-au-Prince, Haiti
Located within the territory of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, the Toussaint Louverture International Airport (PAP) is the busiest one in Haiti and was originally a military and civil airfield. It was built after a grant offered by the United States Government combined with taxes collected by the government. Prior to its renaming, the facility was named after a Haitian President Francois Duvalier International Airport. Today, the facility is named after a Haitian revolutionary leader.
Best Time to Visit
Badly damaged during the earthquake in 2010, the PAP-Toussaint Louverture International Airport underwent major renovations before being reopened in 2012. It underwent renovation again in 2014 by adding 14 more gates, a bigger passenger terminal, and of course – added lounging room and retail space for passengers. Today, several major airlines have flights to the airport which include Air Canada, Air France, Air Transat, and American Airlines. There are also seasonal flights from Boston aboard the JetBlue. Nearby cities include Fermate and Marigot. The city center of Port-au-Prince is also a short drive away and gives quick access to attractions like the National Museum or the Gingerbread Mansion.
