Best Time to Visit
The airfield’s construction is similar to a few of the country’s island airports, where it is divided into a mainland portion and an island portion. Its passenger terminal and primary runway are both on the island, while a shorter track can be found on the mainland. The passenger terminal and primary runway were opened in May 1975, becoming the country’s first full-scale airfield made over water. The shorter airstrip on the mainland is now used as a helicopter landing area by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. The total passenger traffic in 2015 amounted to over three million, while its aircraft movement amounted to over 31,000. You can easily visit the towns of Hoshika, Torisu, and Nanatsugama from the Nagasaka Airport.
