Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport serves Nagpur City in Maharashta, India. It is located 5 miles southwest of Nagpur in Sonegaon and covers an area of 1355 acres. The airport’s name was changed to its current name only recently in 2005. NAG Airport handles approximately 7,500 passengers in a day, has five domestic airlines as well as two international airlines in operation. The airport is also home to the Air Force School of the Indian Air Force.

NAG Airport was first commissioned back in the First World War. During the Second World War, the old buildings were renovated and were then used by the Royal Air Force as a staging airfield. In 1953, the airport underwent several new constructions. In 2005, it was planned for the airport to be a Multimodal International Hub Airport. Total cost of the airport upgrade and renovation cost US$11 million. New additions include better passenger bridges, parking for 600 cars, eight parking bays, and many more. At present, the airport has one terminal and 2 aerobridges. Residents from Chandrapur, Amravati, and Akola also use NAG Airport for their travels.
