Aloft Hotels is a hotel chain known for its modern architectural design style and its distinctive quality of dubbing basic hotel amenities, such as the pool to 'splash'. It is owned by Starwoods Hotel and Resorts Worldwide under its parent company Marriott International. Before its first hotel opened in 2008, Starwoods devised a plan to generate people's interest by featuring Aloft Hotel in a virtual world called Second Life. This allowed guests to navigate through the hotel's interior and explore on site amenities before ever setting foot inside the hotel. The response gathered from guests during that simulation became the foundation for the construction of future Aloft Hotels.
Currently, there are more than 150 open properties across 25 countries under the Aloft Hotel brand. Their urban-inspired design was drafted for the modern jet setters who are more inclined to veer towards a vibrant social scene while maintaining affordable rates. Each area of the hotel seeded from the purposeful environment ideology, which is intended to bring people together.
