The airport with code ALY is found 7km from downtown. It served over a million passengers yearly. In 2011, the airport was closed for renovations. Everything was transferred to a nearby airport. However, the airport didn’t reopen in the planned date of opening. Alexandria is one of the largest cities in Egypt. It is also considered as a popular tourist destination in the region.
