Nice hotel but a bit isolated near a great beach

Pros: this hotel is located a bit out of the way within a "community" near the town of Tamarindo. Tamarindo is within walking distance of the beach with a ferry boat service for 1000 colon per person. By car it takes about 40 minutes to reach Tamarindo. The room was small but clean and had a TV with Netflix, a refrigerator and air conditioning. Nice was the pool in the middle of the complex. Only 5min walk to the "grande" beach which is really nice and empty.

Cons: No breakfast and no restaurants nor shops in this "community" in the morning. in the evening the choice of 2 restaurants. the road to this 'community' is in a pathetic condition, which could certainly be changed if one wanted to. There is a ping pong table on the neighboring site, which unfortunately was broken. annoying was the constantly too loud and same music at the pool

Pros: The property was very clean and beautiful! We loved lounging in the pool while our husbands prepared meals at the kitchen. The proximity to the beach is incredible! If you go to the caf next door: get the cheesecake! The staff was incredible too, many thanks to Yorya

Cons: The one with the glasses. Cant even remember her name. Attitude ,no bueno to say the least ! Asked her for clean bath towels the next day ,because housekeeping is every other day. Told me not till tomorrow ,made a fuss over towels. Second stay there In three months. The last time I was warned about beach towels. Really. Rules. No pura Vida lady. I will not return due to her and the dated accommodations. No bueno in general. The construction next door. Fkcu. Omg. Sanding ,blowing and just no bueno. I know its next door but WTF. ALL DAY. The bopuraVida lady told me on the first day it would be done in a couple hours and if we moved rooms there would be a charge !!! Even tho is out of season and all rooms empty. Problems she presented no solutions!!!Haha. Really no customer service from her ,just attitude !! The next day Andrea upgraded the room. . But the noise went on the entire time and today Saturday at 8.30 am the Fck sanding started again. What a horrible vacation. Besides lovely Andrea. This place sucks!!! 1/5 only because of Andrea

Cons: Here are why I was so disappointed and left the hotel: In the first room they gave me, there was no wi-fi connection. Also phone doesn't get the service. Guy in the reception adviced me that wifi is working on third floor, like I need to go there at every time. And the girl in the reception said, wifi is not working because a cable was burned and then she stopped, suggesting no solution. I said when it's going to be repaired, she said Monday, three days later that is time I'm going to leave and she knows that. After my insistance for a solution they start to speak Spanish in front of me where they can both speak English. They didn't want me to understand what they are saying. After that they offered me another room on 3rd floor, a room that is made in the attic. She said only difference is the window is smaller, I said fine. I went to room to se that the room was smelling like sewage, it is too hot (a/c needed to run for an hour to bring it to an acceptable temperature) and wifi was still disconnecting. I went to the store since they even don't offer drinking water, shampoo, any kind of food or drink. When I came back I found 3 large geckos just in front of the room, one small gecko inside the room but also big black ants were continously getting inside from the window. I saw 4 of them git inside in 10 minutes. And wifi was still get disconnected. I went to the office again and they told me there is nothing they can do for things above. They didn't allow me to talk with their supervisor. I said I'm leaving (in the middle of the night, under rain, and roads are terrible there with a lot of potholes) and went to room to get my stuff. They followed me and got in the room, girl first told there is no gecko in the room, yes because these animals don't stand still also she started a youtube video telling me that the wifi is working. The problem was it's not working, it was repetive disconnected.

Overall a good stay!

Pros: Great common area seating and hangout spots. Location was great, across from the beach! Staff were super nice, friendly and accommodating.

Cons: Walls very thin - could hear everything happening in surrounding rooms including heavy heavy snoring!! Wifi was not working in rooms - not El Manglar's fault as a cable was down we were told, but as I work remotely I would have appreciated being informed ahead of arrival and I would have then booked somewhere else.

Cons: towels in the rooms only could be changed once in two days. It would be good to change them every day because due to the humid air they did not dry

Pros: The property had a beautiful outdoor lounge area, kitchen, and pool

Cons: As a few other reviewers mentioned, there was a slight sewage smell in the restroom. Leaving the bathroom window open largely eliminated that issue. The root cause is that, like most Latin American countries Ive visited, they dont have P-traps installed on drains, so sewer gasses backflow into the building.
