1589 Hotels is a legacy brand taking after the Clarks Group of Hotels. Clarks Group of Hotels is one of the leading hotel groups in India with multiple recognitions for its hospitality services and as one of the first 5-star hotels in the country. The hotel group runs business and leisure hotels in big cities - Jaipur, Lucknow, Agra, and Khajuraho. Udit Kumar and Anant Kumar are heirs to this hotel chain, and instead of taking over the family business, they decided to establish 1589 as their own version of keeping the family legacy. Anant has worked in transactional advisory positions for Ernst & Young in development of hospitality brands. Udit, on the other hand, has credentials from Warwick Business School, making him the financial manager in the partnership. 

Unlike the Clarks Group of Hotels, the brothers reached other leisure and tourism areas like tour packages for temple towns, jungle safaris, wellness resorts, and heritage hotels. Their legacy is now spreading in 37 hotels, 29 cities, and 2 countries in total.
