Bang Phli, Thailand is home to the Bangkok International Airport officially known as the Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK). The district name was derived from a ritual, called the Bath Phli, which was performed by King Naresuan the Great who fought and invaded his enemies in Ayutthaya. The said ritual terrorized the enemies and helped in making the war favorable for his army. The strategic location of the area made it easy to prosper and earned its district status as early as 1895.
