    You would laugh, I wud stay there again .

    Pros: It felt really dear , breakfast, swimming pool , spa all excellent.
    Cons: The mattress was rubbish , the room could have been better , shower gel unit hanging of the wall , bathroom door swollen and very noisy, no bathroom wall bar to get out of shower , fall waiting to happen , sockets could do with up dating to include usb .

    Great stay!

    Pros: Very clean, with friendly and helpful staff. Good location with a bus outside to take you to York. Free parking at the hotel so could park up and then relax for a couple of days. Excellent spa facilities which we made use of.
    Cons: There wasn't anything I didn't like but I do have suggestions for the hotel. Only two plug sockets and one was for TV so maybe another? I'm vegan and found that there was no clear labelling on the food, I couldn't see any plant based milk and there was no plant based butter. Maybe consider making it clear if you have to ask for these things, or just labelling everything. These are intended to be positive suggestions as the hotel is lovely and I will return in the future.

    Pros: Lovely place on arrival and spa really nice
    Cons: We stayed above the fat abbot which was lovely but the pillows wasnt very soft, the bed was small which was a problem for my partner as his feet hung over the bed. We didnt have much room to turn over without hitting each other and being there we couldnt connect to the internet which wasnt very good, as if we was downstairs in the pub the internet worked fine. Expensive in a taxi to get to the town centre. Location only good if its just for the spa or if you want to drive into the centre. Needs better lighting as quite dull.

    Pros: Use of leisure facilities. Breakfast buffet was great, plenty to choose from.
    Cons: Would been nice if leisure facilities could been attached to the buildings via a sheltered walkway as its not near rooms. Also room could do with bit updating, The ceiling in the bathroom had damp above the bath.

    This is not a 4 star country house hotel !!

    Pros: Nothing . It felt like being in a nursing home - funny smell in my room , rock hard bed .. not cleaned each day .
    Cons: I feel that the description 4 star country house hotel is a gross exaggeration . Couldnt get a meal in the pub/restaurant as the chef was off sick ..

    Superb

    Pros: Lovely old hotel with lovely surroundings. The staff were kind and helpful and our room was clean and comfortable.
    Cons: Not enough sun loungers by the pool. Also would be good to have a light on through the glass tunnel at night. No safe or ironing board. The restaurant manager was unnecessarily snappy at our waiter who was answering some questions for us. Bit rude.

    Pros: Bathroom was very nice indeed. Staff very friendly
    Cons: Room was tired looking and stuck in a time warp. Pub next door had a very average menu to be called a gastro pub.

    Pros: Although a bit dated tge hotel was historic grounds very nice spa gym and treatments were excellent. And a pub virtually on tge doorstep. Very quiet with nice ambience. Really nice breakfast served. As much as you can ear
    Cons: No food served after breakfast. Hotel a little dated needs a face lift but this did not detract from out stay as it was clean enough rooms not made up during our three day stay however you could get fresh towels
