Pros: The location was very good and the valet staff was very nice. The lobby was very nice and updated.

Cons: I did not like hidden fees. The fact that you have to pay $50 per night to park there. It was the off-season and very slow, but they still want to charge their visitors this fee. The parking lot was literally empty. Our toilet did not work properly. With each use, it would clog. We had to call maintenance repeatedly, so they actually gave us a plunger to keep in our bathroom so we can fix it ourselves. Also, the pool needs to be cleaned. The hot tub was murky and had a film on the top of it. I never saw anyone servicing the pool. The rug in our room was wet on one side of the bed. The hotel is huge and we were assigned a room very far from the lobby.

Cons: there was no heat in our room. bathroom sink was tiny, couldn’t even turn hot water on because mirror was in the way. only option for parking is to valet for $45 a day

Pros: Booking.com was great making the reservation and even gave us a credit for booking through them. Professional staff and comfortable room. We have stayed at the Viking in the past. We looked forward to returning and were not disappointed until we received our AMEX statement. Look forward to booking at another facility the next time we are in Newport.

Cons: The guest in the room above us kept walking back and forth with heavy foot steps. The problem was the guest, not the facility. It lasted about 45 minutes starting at 9:00 pm. I have no idea what their issue was. Found that we had an additional $45.00 charge on our AMEX statement. Called and was told that it was for "Urban Destination Fee" $45.00, Really?? There was no mention in the fine print about this charge. We already had $50.85 Resort Fee, $45.00 parking, etc. Our $229.00 advertised room finally cost $410.00. Never heard of a Urban Destination Fee. Next trip we will book somewhere else.

GREAT FOR A SHORT STAY ... WITHIN WALKING DISTANCES OF MOST ACTIVITIES AND RESTAURANTS

Pros: Room was great... near elevator .. very quiet.... POOL AREA SUPER ... VERY QUIET ... whirlpool not working... but very relaxing anyways... .

Cons: THE ONLY NEGATIVE COMMENT WOULD BE SUNDAY MORNING WE WANTED TO GO TO BRUNCH .... WENT INTO BRUNCH AREA.... NO ONE AT HOSTESS STATION ... WALKED TOWARD STAFF -- ASIAN WAITRESS VERY RUDE .... "SAID YOU HAVE TO WAIT ... THERE IS A LINE... WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE... " THERE WAS ONE PERSON SITTING OUTSIDE THIS AREA... WE LEFT AND WENT ACROSS THE STREET TO THE CAFE TO GET BREAKFAST ... THANKS
