About Super 8 Motel By Wyndham Brand Hotels

Super 8 began its first operation in Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1974 and has rooms rate starting at $8.88 a night, thus explaining the “8” attached to the hotel brand. From a simple motel chain, Super 8 grew immediately and became available for franchise 2 years after its conception. At present, it will cost you a minimum of $169,270 investment plus franchise fee to afford a Super 8 motel.

The business started with Dennis Brown in 1972. However, after one year of operation, Ron Rivett and Dennis Brown cancelled the association and created the Super 8 Motel corporation, splitting the company in half between them. By 1993, Super 8 opened its 1000th property in Mount Vernon, Ohio, a milestone achieved in just two decades of operation. The number doubled by 2001 and became available through online reservations in 2014 after the company launches its website worldwide. In the United States and Canada alones, Super 8 has more than 2000 properties. At present, The Super 8 brand has also reached China, Germany and Brazil.

Super 8 is now part of the Wyndham Hotel Group with more than 2400 locations around the globe, and considered the biggest name in the economy hotel industry. Super 8 hotels are either independently owned or franchised under the Super 8 Worldwide.

Pros: The hotel is not bad for the price, clean and the bed was very comfortable

Cons: Everything was decent besides the fact I ended up paying more than my booking price as well as the phone started ringing around 3 and wouldn't stop, which was very creepy both nights I was there. I was told this was a smoke-free facility, and if I were to smoke in the room, I would be charged an extra 250.00. Well, the hallways smelt like Marijuana the whole time, and I was questioned by the front desk guy on our way out as to why we were there, and he was serious about it tbh the hotel is not bad for the price but we won't be returning

Pros: The room had a couple of things. I saw a couple of roaches and the bathtub did not drain very well. My biggest complaint was the $25 per night for my dog...that's ridiculous! I had to move after a week because the dog couldn't be left alone in the room. I've been traveling with him for four years and have never been charged or harassed like I was here. I have a feeling I was being discriminated against. I'll never stay at a Super 8 again and I will certainly pass on the experience to family, friends and co-workers. I'm at this location for three months seems like a complete disregard for revenue.

Pros: There were dead cockroaches in my room there were boogers on the nightstands and end tables there were dust bunnies and pubic hairs on the wall the floor was not swept and I would never ever stay at this location again or recommended to a homeless person

Cons: They kept having to fix my card key . I was locked out many times. The room had roaches. loud banging sounds kept me up ,so by the second night it was just too much I left at 7p.m. because I had to get sleep and could not get sleep there. The shower had no hot water. TV was broke so no watching TV.Had to open windows to get some air because ac didnt work.Toilet seat was broken. Everytime I left and came back my stuff was moved around. Will not be back

Pros: the bed was soft
