We loved staying at the...

Cons: We couldn’t check in until 3pm but we’re at a wedding. When we arrived back after the wedding the agency staff had no record of our booking. He tried to phone someone for help but no one answered. It took 45 minutes to get our 2 room keys and we were given the wrong rooms. We had booked a double and were given a twin. Also breakfast finished at 9.30 am so my son couldn’t have anything to eat

Pros: Great location, good food.

Cons: The rooms on first sight looked good but needed a good bottom clean, the bathroom around the bath screen was full of old soap scum and the grout in the tiles were due for a good clean. Although the bar area had an open fire and when eating the smell of burning wood and smoke was over powering. Service for evening food was slow.

Pleasant Pub/Inn with good food...

Pros: Evening meals and breakfasts were tasty and well cooked. Good choices on the menu for both. Staff were friendly and courteous and the room was spacious with nice touches ie, complimentary toiletries and a decent selection on the hospitality tray. WiFi signal was ok.

Cons: Nothing came to mind.

Pros: Room was excellent and well stocked with complimentary tea and coffee. Shower facilities were excellent.

Cons: The full English breakfast was a good choice but was dried up when we got it as though some of the items had been under the heat lamp bar for too long.

Pros: Inclusion of breakfast was great. Good choice of food too. Ambience of the pub/restaurant was very good and traditional. I liked the individual decor and quality of furnishings in the guest rooms

Cons: Having to go outside to reach my room (23) The cleanliness of the bathroom was not great. All trims were very dusty. There were no coat hangers in the wardrobe A fresh lick of paint in my room wouldn’t go amiss

The staff were very welcoming...

Pros: The breakfast was nice, but I ordered two poached eggs and only got one and asked for tin tomatoes and got two fresh tomatoes which I was fine with my husband, ordered bacon, mushrooms, sausage and hashbrowns, but he didn’t receive the hashbrowns which was quite disappointing but overall the breakfast was nice And we received two lots of toast which was lovely. The coffee was nice too.

Cons: The rooms was quite dusty, especially underneath the dressing tables. Also, the showerhead was full of black mould so overall just need a good clean and dusting in the rooms. The bed was very comfy and the pillows were lovely fluffy and light. Apart from a few missing items at breakfast and the receptionist asking for the £25 extra for early checking which we had already paid on arrival, the matter was soon resolved. As we showed proof we had already paid the £25. We had a lovely stay and I would recommend and come and stay again at this hotel.

Tremendous Tolkien.

Pros: The hotel staff were awesome, the music was sensational, the food was superb, the location was exceptional. Absolute perfection all around. They even allow dogs. We didn't have one, but it was nice to see people with pets in front of real fires. A must visit area for walking. Definitely highly recommended.

Cons: The Tolkien Walk was not easy to follow in places as only half of it (the final half) was well signed. Although we did manage to get to a midway point before others who were originally way ahead of us.

Bowland's Best for unbelievable reasonable...

Pros: Wonderful Bowland stone building. Wonderful welcome from the receptionist and quality of staff. Room great and clean. Meals also same - eg homemade steak and local ale pie. Raspberry panna cotta lovely - ask for pouring cream. Parking excellent. Cost - exceeded reasonable. Set in delightful country setting with sheep inc Jacob's sheep local. Dog friendly - staff always offering water. Not far from motorway. Breakfast fine and dinner exceptional. Reccommended without reservation.

Cons: Horse pictures around fine but would have been better if by Stubbs. Bath thinnish plastic - better if steel - but this might be prohibitive for hotel at present to arrange. Pity live so far away as otherwise would visit monthly.

Pros: Characterful coaching Inn set in the Ribble Valley, lovely location, good food and service. Room was very comfortable and well equipped.
