Residence Inn is an extended stay hotel chain owned by Marriott. Founded in 1975, this chain of hotels started in Wichita, Kansas, through the efforts of Robert L. Brock and Jack DeBoer. It was only in 1987 that Residence Inn made some changes after it was acquired by Marriott International. As of 2018, this hotel chain has 803 hotels scattered all over Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

During its early years, Residence Inn buildings had were patterned after an outbuilding style. Today, the modern constructions have suites inside the building that are much larger as compared to a conventional hotel room. Pros: Size of the rooms are very goed, also the breakfast. Location of the hotel, 10 minuten walk to the old centre and Waverly station. A supermarket near by in case you need anything and also a very good Malysian restaurant.

Cons: It was just a little too far for us due to my mother’s age. Which was my mistake but there was an excellent bus services so it didn’t cause us too many issues.

Cons: Bathroom was mouldy. All days exactly same bland breakfast. No cuisine,nothing. No dinner options provided other than cup noodles. The furniture in the room was old. Tv is from 90s!!!

Pros: The location is great. When we arrived we were given an upgrade and adjoining rooms - which although we didn’t ask for them worked well for our party.

Cons: The rooms we were given were in a part of the hotel that needed a service elevator to access. This meant going through a really shabby part of the hotel. It was pretty disconcerting and we had to use the service elevator- there was no explanation for this and I was pretty disappointed. Also there was a broken air on unit in my room and all the air is being serviced so wasn’t operational apparently. Again no mention and no discount. The ‘complimentary’ breakfast is served just in the foyer of the hotel - which is pretty chilly. On the first day we came down and it was so busy there were no tables and we had to leave and go elsewhere. On the second day we went for breakfast and it was fine. The parking is offsite - at local Q park just two minutes walk - but is the hotel is advertised as having parking but when I asked if there was any reduction or validation the staff practically laughed at me - though they were saying sorry. Generally the staff were pleasant just a little absent. The cleaning staff were chatting and wheeling washing around when we used the service elevator which just felt like we were in the way. I was, overall really disappointed - the rooms are fine but not fabulous. They feel pretty tired and I wasn’t 100% happy that they were clean. But this may have been due to my first impressions.
