Historical hotel (quality long gone) in perfect city entre location

Pros: This is a historical hotel with 160 yesr old stories to tell. We loved the location, atmosphere and long forgotten glory of this place. One night experience while visiting Kandy was overall fantastic. We would do it again for sure. We ordered junior suite but finally got Georginia corner room in West Wing. It was loud but atmospheric and with great city views. We really loved this experience. Breakfast was quite fine. Location is perfect (!!!!)

Cons: Its so rundown one may cry. Bathroom in one of the best rooms in this hotel is terrible. It just 50 years old or more. We feel sorry that such a great hotel detteriorates its so sorry to see. There was also check in hassle. We ordered junior suite but got ordinary, hospital alike economy room. When we went down to the reception to show booking.com reservation photos of the room, they moved us to proper room (they said it was an upgrade but I am sure its what we paid for in the first place). All conducted with Srilankan smile of course :-)

Great stay at the Queens!

Pros: Great location in the heart of Kandy. Could not be any more central. The staff were generally great despite some occasional confusion. All round a really great stay!

Cons: Not really alot to dislike. Wifi is not good so don't expect to be doing a remote working holiday. Didn't matter to us.

Grand building, but faded fixtures and facilities

Pros: It is an iconic old building on the lake. Very impressive looking, especially in the public areas. One of the few places to get a meal and a drink late on a rainy night.

Cons: Old and fraying fixtures, especially in the rooms. Electrical outlets and wifi are very ropey. Very few tv channels (and remote did not work). Buffet in the restaurant was okay, but nothing special. A la carte items were often not available.

Best location in Kandy, antique hotel, going back in time, which I enjoyed

Pros: Location is superb! It is like going back to the past, we had the junior suite and this was bigger than most apartments I have lived.

Celebrating our Wedding Anniversary at the Queen's Hotel in early October sounds like a wonderful choice. It's heartwarming to hear that our special day was made even more memorable with the delicious chocolate cake they provided. A tasty treat that's also good value for your money is always a delightful surprise. It is compatible price with the market. The thoughtful suggestion of offering Kiribath (milk rice) to the Dalada Maligawa in the morning is a beautiful and culturally significant way to start the day. It's an opportunity to partake in a local tradition and offer our respects at this sacred site. They provided Kiribath for offering to our request. We did it.

Pros: Beautiful historic hotel which was lovely to stay at. Would recommend. Rooms / building internally could do with a refresh but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Old colonial charme, emphasising on old.

Pros: Old colonial charme, although some aspects seem like they haven't been altered since 1850, e.g. the wooden bathroom flooring. Perfectly situated in the middle of the city, right in front of the Temple of the tooth. Very Helpful personnel.

Cons: The guests from the room above us set the bathroom floor under water which caused water to drip from our ceiling. But the room boys did a very good job to clean and solve the problem.

Great classic hotel

Pros: Lovely old hotel in centre of kandy. Unrenovated, which adds to the charm. Hopefully when it gets renovated it is done well.! Pool and bar were great. Room nicely decked out, great old lift.

Cons: Hot water took a while to run through the taps, but it's an old building with old plumbing. Be patient.

Comfortable and central

Pros: The hotel needs a bit of work internally to moderise it however it adds to the colonel history. The bed wss very old and noisey. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Terrible staff with disgusting service!!!

Pros: Only the location was fine. The staffs attitude and the service was disgusting.

Cons: I communicated to the hotel on pre payment and arrange a birthday cake as I was booking the hotel for my family. They havent made a prepayment and has shown a bad attitude to the guests and the security guard hasnt allowed to enter the parking as the payment was not completed before the check-in. When I called them, they refused to charge my card and I asked them to check in the guests as I was rushing to transfer the money to my family for payment, but they refused. So my family had to wait outside. They do not have any empathy towards the customers. And they have never arranged a birthday cake. My family had to purchase from outside. When I complained this yo booking.com, they have lied that they offered a chocolate frost cake. Completely lying and disgusting!!! Their star rating is complete scam. Only for location theyre charging expensive amount and offers nothing.

Cons: The property is quite old and quite packed! The employees were quite slow and let us wait for quite some time when were doing the check-in.
