Ultimately Very Dissapointed

Cons: We only had one night so we were very disappointed when we were unable to check in till after 6.30pm on the day of our stay. The accommodation does say that check-in will be by 4pm at the latest, We originally arrived at 11.30am, and asked if it would be possible for us to check in, as we were only here for one night, and we wanted to make the most of the very short time we had. The reception lady was very unhelpful and bordering on being very rude. She simply said no the room is not ready. I asked when it would be ready, she said they could message me on my phone to let me know when the room was ready. We then were limited to only visiting the very local area, as we were only waiting to check in.We waited till 6.30pm and we still had NOT heard back from the resort. So we went back to the hotel to demand we be allowed to check in, as we would only have the room for a very few hours now. By this point we had lost all time for sightseeing for the day, as we had been waiting around the very local area (where there really is nothing of interest to look at - unless you can an would enjoy spending the day in Tesco). When we got to the room, it was also dark, so we were unable to see or enjoy any of the resort, and we couldn't see anything outside. the only thing we 'experienced' was the very nasty and aggressive swan that tried to bite us for no reason at all (We made no attempt to interact with it or touch it). Check out was at 10am the next morning. At 10am on the dot, a member of staff was banging on the front window and then the front door very loud. DESPITE one of us clearly finishing putting last bags in the car, and I was making sure everything was turned off. At 10.01am the staff member was stood aggressively outside the front door, in a very intimidating manner talking on her phone. We were then asked when we would be done, when would be out. I was stood in reception waiting to hand in the keys at 10.04am.

Pros: Everything was lovely and calm, most staff was really lovely and easy to talk too, the resort is lovely and was fab having access to water sports as the guys who run that were fab, was a lovely holiday and a shame it was nearly ruined completely.

Cons: Could have done with a few more better things on for children, I.e. nature walks, fishing lessons as perfect weather and time of year for it or just something a bit better for older children as wasting hundreds in the arcade when you have more than one child or a 1 hour children's discos was a little poor, I understand they are trying to cater for all but doing it all in one evening instead of a few nights doesn't work well. Some staff could do with a course on manners as you could tell, not so much with ourselves but with other residents, they was being rather judgemental and bad mannered. The sofa bed was not comfortable as you could feel the metal bars through the mattress with it being rather thin and having 2 girls an a boy with autism we couldn't expect them to sleep in the living room but also with have some back problems as most adults do these days, really wasn't suitable, not only this but on the first night of sleeping on the sofa bed I got bit twice on the back of my neck, didn't think too much about it with being next to the lake until returning to our shallay on the final evening to find an infestation of mosquitoes in the middle corner of the living room, above the lamp, to notice on further investigation that there was mosquitoes in the kitchen and on the sofa bed mattress also, duvet and cushions was fine but shouldn't have to sleep on the floor with them after killing hundreds of bugs, just to try and ensure my partner and myself could get some sleep on the final night which makes it a good job that us adults slept in the living room because having a child who's autistic and our youngest in the processed of being assessed, this would of been a complete disaster as both would of been hysterical, luckily we checked the children's rooms and they was clear of bugs so the children was happy enough to sleep with doors closed to ensure nothing went flying in there rooms even though our son normally sleeps with his door...

Pros: The location was perfect. Staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the pool. Lodge was very comfortable.

Cons: There was no jug in the accommodation and the sharp knives were blunt, which made preparing vegetables difficult.

Lodge was perfect, grandsons loved...

Pros: Lodge was perfect in every way. Views were perfect. Grandsons used lake sports centre it was amazing. We also used the pool which again was greatly enjoyed. All the staff, from reception to maintenance were a credit to the team.

Cons: Restaurant. Previous visits enjoyable, this time food was far below Previous visits, less choice and quality more cafe quality. Price very expensive for choice and quality. The "Restaurant " was also uncomfortably cold, no heating at all, meaning we also had to leave our outdoor coats on. Shame really as definitely returning (again) but will not be using the Restaurant. On a positive note, Restaurant staff were lovely, friendly and very efficient, a credit to the team.

Pros: The location of the site and facilities were fantastic.

Cons: When I went into my room,250, on the Friday, I was met with a foul stench, and which I believe to have been like a curry smell, that did not go away until the Sunday afternoon. I accept people can use their lodge for their own purposes. But felt the smell should have been removed for the next guest. It was difficult to sleep and everything of one then smelt too.
