Beautiful & comfotable property, food, spa, and staff excellent.

Cons: There really wasnt much to do outside of the property. The trips to see the elephants and the backwaters (listed on the website)were really too far away for a day trip. Also I had booked on the assumption that there was morning and evening yoga and meditation available. The only yoga included in the booking was in the morning anything extra was charged. I also was unhappy about the amount on plastic rubbish on the beach. I noticed that the hotel next door cleaned their beach front twice a day, it was a shame that Niramaaya did not do this too.

Nice enough now but really poor value for money. When the port is finished so is the resort.

Pros: The beach and dining area but both could be easily improved.

Cons: Massive port development around the bay was noisy all night long. Once finished the resort will be hemmed in by port traffic. Hawkers on the beach spoilt ambience,, but litter not as bad as some places. The food wasnt great in the restaurant, should have focused on quality and not an overly long menu. This was the last evening of 18 in India and the food a disappointment. Only beer or bottles of wine available, no cocktails or single glasses of wine. Why on earth is there not decent coffee in the rooms, who drinks instant coffee and powdered creamer???? A simple cafetire and milk in the fridge would suffice. At $700 night expected a nice experience.

Pros: Super location, sea view and the continuous sound of sea waves makes it extremely serene and calm. There are tall and old trees which makes the property extremely rich.

A literal paradise on earth

Pros: This place felt like a literal paradise on earth. From our arrival to our departure we had an amazing time. The staff were on hand to take care of our every need. We had a laugh with a few of them notably Siva who proved to be a bit of a stand up comedian! The food was exceptional and because they didn't offer any vegan desserts the chef made me a special one on our second night. It was such a calm and peaceful place. The pool was amazing. Probably one of the best places I've ever stayed.

Cozy five-star resort in Kovalam with spa, pool, and restaurant facilities.

Pros: Staff was very friendly, the massage was good and well-priced. Food at the on-site restaurant is tasty. Room was very spacious and clean, with great air conditioning.

Cons: Compared to other resorts in Kovalam, the property is a bit older. The beach, while accessible, has a good bit of litter. The phones in the room weren't working as of my stay.

Our stay at Niraamaya

Pros: Food and service in the restaurant was excellent. The restaurant was overlooking the sea which is another plus point.

Cons: We were not happy about the location of our room. It was located below ground level. There were some slugs crawling around the shower room and beside the toilet area. That put us off.

Cons: Booking.com are misrepresenting the Niraamaya Wellness Retreats, Surya Samudra, Kovalam on its website. In particular: 1.The website states Niraamaya Retreats, Surya Samudra, Kovalam presents romantic seaside getaways in Trivandrum, with its private beach and beautiful sea-facing infinity pool. but the private beach was roped-off, inaccessible and full of rubbish and the photos used on the website failed to show the cranes and shipping vessels associated with the Port of Trivandrum. 2.The website promised 2 restaurants and a Bar and states Guests can head to Cafe Samsara, an all-day dining restaurant, to relish multi-cuisine delights. Gourmet seafood grills can be enjoyed at Essence, the specialty restaurant. they can also enjoy the beautiful sunsets at Madira Bar while sipping on sundowners but there was only one restaurant Essence, the specialty restaurant and Madira Bar was closed. 3.The website promised a Heated pool but the pool was not heated 4.I booked 2x Heritage Classic Double Rooms with Garden View but the cleanliness and quality of the furniture did not live up to the expectations set by the photos on the website. 5.Many of the hotel buildings were covered with tarpaulins indicating a general state of disrepair So disappointed were we with the hotel and its facilities that we decided to check-out two days early (on the 23rd October 2023) and move to alternative accommodation further up the coast. I am aware of at least two other guests who had decided to do likewise. All of us were of the firm opinion that the Niraamaya Wellness Retreats, Kovalam did not warrant a 5* rating and was more like a 3* resort.
