Pros: Great location by Mahaweli river and views from the back. The pool area and restaurant are the highlights for us! Our executive suite room was great, although AC was not working properly.

Cons: Staff cannot communicate very well in English and our check in was problematic. Rooms were far away (ie over 5 mins walk) and while in the end we managed to move them closer, it was hard work communicating and agreeing with hotel staff. No senior staff appeared to help or come forward to discuss with us. They insisted (initially only) we had to pay for extra bed (which added to confusion!). Not value for money as really expensive and I would rate as 4 stars rather than 5. In addition, the main yard by the pool was occupied every afternoon by a separate group for which the hotel had organised activities that rest of guests could not participate - in fact when we sat with my family by mistake in one of the chairs set out we were asked to move in a way that could have been more polite (and which felt embarrassing to us!). No signs were there to guide us either and we felt as second class guests.

Very Outdated hotel for the price

Pros: Nice pool, on river view, buffet dinner and breakfasts were nice, staff are friendly. Little touches in the room were nice - turn down service If you want luxury stay in Golden Crown Hotel - it was WOW.

Cons: It says 5 star - but very dated. Air conditioning didnt work in our room properly. The shower head in bathroom was terrible - didnt reach us - and it was either nuclear hot or freezing. Staff couldnt find out train tickets after being asked 5 times. On 6th time, suddenly they appeared - right the day before travel. Not so chill for us. Gym is awful - not recommend.

Pros: The room was huge and very clean with a nice view of the pool and the river. The hotel is just beside the Manali river and has good views of it.

Cons: They had a great variety of food but as we are vegetarians we found the taste of the food to be a little different from Indian cuisine.

An honest opinion. Great property now looking very tired and needing an upliftment of the staff etc

Pros: The staff in the restaurant were efficient and courteous especially Ajantha , Maduwanthi and Shenal.

Cons: The sink was blocked when we entered. Ants on the wall and in the toilet. The bed was very uncomfortable.

Very nice - not expensive - hotel in very nice surroundings, 4 km from Kandy lake.

Pros: Excellent rooms, swimmming pool and other outdoor areas. Very good food including breakfast. We choose the hotel partly becourse there was a tennis court, which was acceptable but not quite even!

Cons: Breakfast: Would like more choice of cold to drink (water, juice). The coffie served at the table was warm and good, but the coffie you took from the large cylinder was not hot enough.

Pros: Beautiful gardens/pool area with fantastic views of the river. Amazing breakfast and staff - Anjali was particularly lovely and helped to organise a birthday cake for my boyfriend! Also nice to be outside of Kandy for our stay - a TukTuk to Kandy from the hotel was about 1000 LKR

Cons: Some areas felt a bit tired, but didnt affect the overall experience

The Mahaweli Reach Team embodied the finest in Sri Lankan hospitality.

Pros: Awesome property, well maintained with a very relaxing atmosphere. The dinner and breakfast buffets were excellent with a wide variety of food and special mention to Ms. Anjalee who was very attentive to the needs of the guests and the dining service. The check in and check out was seamless. Overall the service was impeccable and highly recommend this property.
