Servicing guests from the United States, Mexico, Canada and Honduras, La Quinta Inns & Suites started with humble beginnings in 1968 during the HemisFair also known as the San Antonio Texas World’s Fair. Founded and built by entrepreneur Sam and Phil Bharshop, they built the La Quinta Inn or the “The Country Villa Inn” and later on became the first hotel under the successful brand La Quinta Inn & Suites.

The first ever La Quinta Inn & Suites hotel in San Antonio, Texas also served as the headquarters of the brand. It was later on relocated to Irving, Texas in 1999. In 2005, LQ Corporation, the company behind the La Quinta hotel brands agreed to be acquired by the Blackstone Group for a whopping $3.4 billion, both in cash and in debt. The merger materialized and was completed in January of 2006.

At present, company and franchised hotels under the La Quinta Inn & Suites are consisted of more than 87,500 rooms, around 890 properties in total located in different locations in all the 48 states in the United States. Hotel branches in Canada, Colombia, Mexico and Honduras area also included in this number, segregated under the La Quinta Inn & Suites, La Quinta Inn and the LQ Hotel brands.

Good location, but some issues.

Pros: Nice location and nice staff. However the bed and pillows very uncomfortable, and the window frame had what looked like mold on it. No hair blow-dryer in the room. And the second day we had no bath towels. The room cleaners did not speak English.

Cons: Bedding and only one elevator that sounded like it had limited time left.

Beware of room 314..

Pros: Location Great, rooms need to be checked occasionally. This room is a safety hazard Check out pictures of the fire alarm the elevator is a nightmare being disabled we couldn't get elevator to come up had to take steps three floors..Down to find out as they put it somebody pushed the one button in too hard and it locked in. Vanity mirror above sink, broken and cracked at both edges and was as bright as a night light. Shower against the wall was broken, you night have cracks in the lamp shades.. the freezer could be defrosted once in awhile had huge ice buildup. Shower corners next to tub black ,it may not be mold but it really could be cleaned and painted . Charging $240 a night and you can't even change out the towels and wash clothes daily? They told us the word was Extended Stay "you do not get service daily", but at least you can leave extra towels and coffee so we don't have to come down in a elevator that doesn't work to get them replaced! You're not going to clean the rooms at least advertise it, leave a nice notification on the pillow or counter, show some class. We even left a day early.. and notified them so they could at least rent the room out for the night. You think they would comp us a night at least..

Pros: Location was OK

Cons: There were cockroaches in the room. It is the first time in my life that I encounter cockroaches in a hotel room, and I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotel rooms before.

Fine, but hotel needs work

Pros: Location was great!

Cons: Paint on walls were newer but our room, window sill was extremely rusted, bathroom toilet seat was very loose, patchwork on bathroom was not painted, rust on tub, grout. Need to sell allergy med, Tylenol and Advil in their lobby, Fresh market next door is just food no meds etc.

Rundown

Pros: Nothing

Cons: La Quinta Hotel, despite its name, failed to meet expectations. With peeling paint, damaged floors, and an overall sense of neglect, it resembled a rundown motel more than a hotel. While the beds were comfortable, they couldn't make up for the lack of maintenance and attention to detail throughout the property. Unless significant improvements are made, I cannot recommend La Quinta for a satisfactory stay.

Great location, nice, helpful stage....

Pros: Close to the ocean & family

Cons: The lighted mirror in the bathroom was dim, the switch to brighten didn’t work. Need to update the bathrooms ASAP.
