Sleepless in Granada

Pros: Room was clean and good facilities apart from wifi. Receptionist staff friendly. Bedding, bathroom, heating, etc. - all good quality. Location central, but that was actually a negative as situated right in the midst of Granada's nightlife district. Attractive old building (inside).

Cons: I was allocated a ground floor room on the street for a 2 night stay. The booking was for a room with a 'city view'. What I got instead was a ground floor room with a window fitted with bars looking onto on a busy street. If you want to sleep at night, then you should not book a room at this hotel on the ground floor. The level of noise disturbance was extreme and lasted well into the early hours. There was a nightclub/late bar directly opposite (entrance 3m from my window) - late evening and well into early hours of the morning, anything between 2 or 3 and 10 people congregated outside the entrance smoking and often talking very loudly. Throughout the evening, to about 3am, there was a lot of traffic passing the bedroom window, rumbling past and lighting up the room with vehicle lights as they passed the window. Groups of people on a night out passed the window all evening and into the early hours of the morning, talking loudly or shouting. I stayed two nights and hardly slept the first night. I was only able to get to sleep after 2am on the second night. When I raised the issue with the hotel receptionist, it was clear he (and i assume hotel management) was aware of the problem. I was asked if I had read the reviews and was advised that if I wanted a quieter room (on 2nd floor), I would have to pay 40 more. Of course, the hotel management should have offered the room change for free. The wifi was no good - very slow, kept cutting out, 1-2 bars when it was not cutting out..

Location but nothing else

Pros: The location is brilliant.

Cons: I should have trusted all the reviews which said the accommodation is really really noisy. Traffic and noisy people from outside and pipes and people from inside made sleeping without earplugs impossible. My room was also extremely hot. They promised to check it out but nothing happened. The thermostat was broken. Their solution was just to switch a/c off which meant no fresh air. I needed to open the window (and more noise of course). I also asked a wake up call which never happened. I cant recommend this place for anyone.

Pros: The location of the hotel is indulgently perfect for exploring the local bodegas and tapas bars, and is only a few minutes further stroll to the more commercial/shopping districts Restaurants, bars with stunning panoramas of the Alhambra are a 20 minutes or so by foot although be prepared for Granadas hills !

Cons: We had breakfast once at the hotel and considered the 11 buffet to be not very good value

Pros: Excellent location, lovely interior, comfortable beds and friendly staff

Cons: Very, very noisy, not just noise on the street (that was expected as it was the weekend and our room was on the first floor overlooking a street with bars) but the level of noise from the other rooms was awful. We could hear all the rooms around us; people talking, television noise, taps, toilets, showers, doors closing and furniture being dragged on floor of room above ours. We had a really disturbed sleep on both nights as a result.
