Pros: Beautiful setting, food and wine. Characterful staff. Always friendly and willing to help or advise. They clearly wanted guests to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Outstandingly beautiful historical hotel in the heart a quiet medieval town

Pros: Architecturally beautiful hotel with incredible historical connection in the heart of a tiny quiet, medieval town surrounded by the most beautiful rolling Umbrian countryside . Very comfortable, stylish and beautifully appointed room with fabulously luxurious bathroom . Gorgeous smelling body and hand wash . Staff warmly welcoming and courteous. Very attractive out door seating areas especially by the swimming pool and gardens with olive trees providing shady spots with comfortable loungers . Immaculate sizeable infinity pool. The quiet ambiance provided the essence for a relaxing afternoon. We enjoyed a delicious dinner accompanied by a perfect local wine recommended by a very helpful and knowledgeable staff . Attention to detail was first class . Breakfast was fabulous , delicious coffee, freshly prepared fruit salad made to order with homemade breads, patisserie and cake . Service was superb.

Cons: I would have given this hotel 10/10 for everything but sadly the air- conditioning seemed to fail and the bedroom was extremely hot and stuffy , in fact the entire hotel seemed very hot indeed and the fridge in our room wasnt working either. The temperatures this week have been exceptionally hot in the mid 30s so it was difficult to sleep although the night time receptionist found us a fan which was very helpful although obviously noisy . We arrived in the hotel having moved from a very noisy uncomfortable hotel in the same town and were delighted to find this lovely hotel and needed a day to relax having been cycling all week in the heat. We spent most of the morning exploring the local wine museum and the afternoon relaxing by the lovely tranquil pool area , swimming , reading and enjoying the shade of the olive trees which was lovely . We werent absolutely sure of the air conditioning and electrical issues until we returned to our room later after dinner . We did notice it was very warm in the room but were so pleased to have moved out of the previous hotel and were enjoying the other attributes the hotel Le Tres Vaselle had to offer and headed straight out to explore after settling into the room . Later we were busy getting ready for dinner and didnt alert the staff until we returned to our room after dinner when we realised how hot it was and that the fridge and air con were still not working . That was when we contacted reception. We ate in the hotel restaurant and it was delicious .

The decline of an icon

Pros: The gardens are very nice and well kept, it's a great location for exploration and the restaurant was nice.

Cons: Such a shame that this once icon of Italian hospitality, the preferred location for footballers and politicians has become a mere shadow of it's former glory. The building itself retains the historic feel but the internal infrastructure is tired and left wanting. Gone are the five star touches, the air conditioning was set to 20 but never got below 25, the attentiveness of staff not as sharp as it could be, the bar didn't open at all whilst we were there, the poolside bar only opened at the weekend, and there in lies the problem, the hotel is dying and nobody seems to stay there anymore, subsequently there is no atmosphere. Sad to see a hotel crumbling in on itself through lack of motivation and investment.

A once wonderful hotel that needs investment urgently if it is going to survive today's competition.

Pros: A famous hotel in a great location with very friendly staff.

Cons: The bathroom facilities were not up to scratch as there was no running water in the room from midnight through to after breakfast the following morning. It was therefore impossible to have a shower and the loo did not flush in the morning. The staff explained that it was because the hotel was filling up their swimming pool that night! I did not think that was a reasonable excuse for the very significant inconvenience caused.

A Total disaster, cannot understand how they can be rated 5 star - they are not even a 2 star hotel

Pros: The hotel is beautiful, amazing location and free car park. The room was big, comfortable with all the facilities. There were 2 TVs, hair dryer, toiletries, mini bar coffee and tea. Nothing to say about the room big and tidy. The building is stunning.

Cons: For a 5 star hotel it needs attention to details. The bathroom needs a deep clean and maintainance, for example during the shower the water was going everywhere and needed a deep clean. Breakfast wasn't great at all. I appreciate COVID restrictions so you can't do buffet by yourself so you have to queue up and wait for the water to serve you, but it can be tedious and annoying, plus the croissant were not fresh the second morning, some of the cakes were not good taste, there were no numbers assigned on the table so we didn't know where to sit and most of the table were still dirty. Breakfast was really disorganized. We were not given basic info like breakfast time and check out. The staff is not qualified for this level of hotel. For sure breakfast is not for a 5 star hotel. For example there were three adults in the room there should have been three cups for the tea not 2 and three robes not 2. This didn't affect my stay at all so we didn't mind and we didn't request the additional it is just an example of attention to the details for a 5 Star hotel.
