Pros: Everything. The view, the fresh air, lovely streets, lovely food.

Cons: I came by train and they don't have a taxi there, at the station, which make me cary my 20kg trolley over the steps. Is not the hotel fault.

Pros: Fantastic location. Views of the lake from the room. Right in the centre of the town.

Cons: Bit tired. Needs an update. Did the job for one night though Had to order every breakfast item the night before cereal/ fruit/ drinks/ bread etc. Good to avoid waste, but I would have taken much smaller bits of everything from a buffet.

It was my second reservation in this hotel and each time I chose it for its fantastic view from balcony

Cons: It was really cold and during the night we couldnt sleep well because of the temperature and also the bed !!!! The most uncomfortable bed !!!even though I protested to the reception for the air conditioning because the room was really cold , nothing happened! And the bathroom was colder and reception told us the heating doesnt work!!!!

Popes holiday home. A peaceful place with limited hotels so at night it does not have many tourists

Pros: Room we paid for was not a lake view however we were on a side street which still had a window that overlooked the lake and just next-door was a small communal terrace with table and chairs again overlooking the lake. Breakfast is ordered the night before as they cook fresh pastries each morning. They also do hot food however don't expect a full english which is very rare in Italy anyways. The pear (pera) juice is really nice. The hotel is like a small boutique hotel and has a small breakfast room. There is also an attached restaurant which wasn't really open when we were staying due to the season being nearly over. Also it was windy the couple of days we stayed so the roof terrace was not open which was a little shame. You are right on the door step of the charming village of Castel Gandolfo and can stroll the streets around the hotel until late before retiring to bed. The palace gardens were wonderful. The lake itself is breathtaking however as mentioned quite windy down by the lake in mid October. All in all a lovely stay and the team at the hotel were really accommodating and helpful. The maintenance guy was a star and saved our bacon when there ended up being a transport strike on our last day! Grazie Mille

Cons: Very little wrong with the place to be honest. Slight smell from the bathroom but thats probably down to the ancient sewerage system in Castel Gandolfo. The whole village is very old with lots of history and charm. The other downfall is to get the lovely view from Castel Gandolfo then if you arrive by train then you have a short but steep trek up to the village. As soon as you reach the top and turn round you get the most amazing view that takes your breath away and you forget all about the brief challenging walk. If you call the reception in advance the will organise a taxi for you from the station at a reasonable price. Alternatively you can go to Albano Laziale station to the gates of Castel Gandolfo station by a small bus. However the timetable is quite infrequent.
